Haley Rose Haynes of Starkville was recently recognized as a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda, a national leadership and honors organization at Mississippi State University. Sigma Alpha Lambda is dedicated to promoting and rewarding academic achievement and providing members with opportunities for community service, personal development and lifelong professional fulfillment.
She is a 2006 graduate of Starkville Academy. She is a sports communication major, a Diamond Girl for the MSU baseball team, a MSU roadrunner and a member of the Shackouls Honors College. Haynes is the daughter of Randy and Tommye Haynes.
Education honor society taps local students at MSU More than 40 academically achieving juniors, seniors and graduate students in Mississippi State's College of Education are new members of the university chapter of Kappa Delta Pi honor society. Founded in 1911 at the University of Illinois, the international organization works to promote excellence in all areas of collegiate teacher training. KDP's 55,000 members are spread among more than 400 campus and alumni chapters. In addition to scholastics, membership requires the demonstrated commitment to a career in education and a personal attitude that ensures steady professional growth. MSU student members from Starkville inducted at the conclusion of the 2008 spring semester included junior elementary education majors Lisa N. May and Sachia E. Poole.
