Festival of Trees 2009 begins Nov. 12 at the Palmeiro Center

Seeing all of the beautifully decorated Christmas trees is one of the things Regina Byrne is excited about this year’s Festival of Trees event.
Celebrity decorators will have their trees on display along side professional decorators from throughout the area to make this year’s Festival of Trees event spectacular.
Byrne, co-chair for this year’s Festival of Trees event, said there are a few changes this year, including a new location and extended viewing time. There will also be a lot of fun events scheduled throughout the week to make this year’s event a little different.

The Schedule of Events

• The first “official” night of Festival of Trees there will be a special holiday party and auction, with wonderful cuisine and beverages provided by Starkville’s finest restaurants and caterers. • The Kid’s Holly Day event is set from from 9 a.m. until noon November 13.
• Festival of Trees will be closed November 14 for the MSU vs. Alabama football game.
• On November 15, Festival of Trees will be open for public viewing from noon until 6 p.m.
• The United Way Pacesetters Reception will be held at the Festival of Trees from 5:30-7 p.m. November 16. This is an invitation-only event.
• Leave the guys at home on November 17, because from 6:30-8:30 p.m., there will be a special wine and dessert reception featuring Chef Ty Thames.
 • Wednesday will be Church Youth group night. From 6-8 p.m. November 18, load up the church van and head to the festival.
• The Greater Starkville Development Partnership’s Business After Hours will be held at the Festival from 5:30-7 p.m. November 19.
• Dickens’ Village will be filled with a variety of holiday gifts to purchase from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. November 20. The Festival will be open to the public throughout the day.
• And on the last day of the Festival, children will have the opportunity to have Breakfast with Santa from 8:30-10 a.m. Advance reservation and payment will be required.
