Starkville’s newest restaurant is raising eyebrows by serving breakfast in a barbecue restaurant. Three Little Pigs is now open and serving breakfast. And while many people typically do not associate barbecue and breakfast, the owners of Three Little Pigs say it is a good thing. The home cooked breakfast includes country ham, fresh cooked biscuits and eggs to order. Charlie Robertson, owner of Three Little Pigs, said for breakfast, eggs to order is their speciality. “We know how to cook eggs,” Robertson said “You don’t want your egg brown and lacy.” And while breakfast has been the main topic of discussion in regards to the new restaurant, they are also bringing Memphis-style barbecue to the Starkville area.
Robertson said what sets them apart is slow cooking their pork shoulders for at least 24-hours to allow the meat to soak up the flavor of the smoke. And the homemade barbecue sauce is light and tangy to enhance the flavor of the smoke. Customers will also find American farm-raised catfish on the menu and made-from-scratch side items and sauces. They have plans to add ribs, hot wings and barbecue pizza to the menu once they are more acclimated to the community. “This is a different clientele than in Memphis,” Robertson said. “We want to discover what young families and college students would enjoy at Three Little Pigs.” The Robertson’s also own the original Three Little Pigs BBQ in Memphis, Tenn. The new Starkville restaurant is their first experience with a new location. Three Little Pigs is located just off Highway 12 on Avenue of Patriots in Starkville. They are now serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The official grand opening is set for November 13-14.
