Mr. and Mrs. William Ellis Tyner of Clinton announce the engagement of their daughter, Perry Jane Tyner, to Garon Tate, son of Mr. and Mrs. Meredith Tate of Chattanooga, Tenn. The couple will exchange vows at 2 p.m. November 28, 2009, at Provine Chapel on the campus of Mississippi College in Clinton, with a reception to follow at Phi Theta Kappa’s Center for Excellence in Jackson. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. andMrs. Gene A. Triggs of Clinton and Dr. and Mrs. Fred H. Tyner of Starkville. She is the great-granddaughter of Lola B. Tyner of Starkville. Miss Tyner is a graduate of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Ridgeland, where she earned a debate scholarship to the University of Alabama. Currently, Miss Tyner is a junior at the University of Alabama, where she is employed as a resident advisor and majoring in psychology. She is also employed by Sullivan and Gray Law Firm and will enroll in law school in 2011. Mr. Tate attended Chattanooga State College in Chattanooga, Tenn., where he served as the International Vice President for Division Two of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. In 2003, he was employed by Phi Theta Kappa in Jackson, and received scholarship assistance, allowing him to graduate from Mississippi College in 2007, with a degree in public relations. He presently serves as chapter relations manager of Phi Theta Kappa in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana and Tennessee regions. Mr. Tate is also employed as a leasing manager for H.A. Edwards in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
