Start the Independence Day holiday with fresh food, tasty goodies, local art, good music and special sense of community. Tammy Tyndall, coordinator for the Starkville Community Market, said tomorrow, the Starkville Community Market will celebrate the community and the nation beginning at 9 a.m. A local Boy Scout troop will present the colors, followed by a performance of the “The Star-Spangled Banner” by Sarah Beth Sewell, “America the Beautiful” by Lauren Prince and other patriotic songs.
Fresh watermelon will be given away to Market-goers after the ceremony. The Market will be from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday on South Lafayette Street in Starkville. Tyndall also said to come by early, because vendors sell out fast each Saturday. She said D&G Farms will have about 300 pounds of tomatoes and in the next two weeks, customers can expect okra, zucchini, squash, peppers, cucumbers and possibly some corn.
