A ‘Greener’ Way To Get To School

Students, parents, and teachers are invited to celebrate Earth Day by participating in Walk to School Day on Wednesday, This park-and-walk event is open to all students, whether they live along the route or not, and to supporters of Starkville’s Safe Routes to School initiative.Registration begins at 6:40 a.m. Participants will walk simultaneously from J.L. King Park to the Henderson Intermediate School and Ward-Stewart Elementary School campuses and from the pavilion at the park on Whitfield Street at Avenue of Patriots to Armstrong Middle School. Participants will start walking to each campus at 7 a.m. Above, shown above are images from the 2008 Walk to School Day.
