Taylor to serve as new Cadence treasurer

Lewis F. Mallory Jr., chairman and CEO of Cadence Bank, recently announced that Jonathan Taylor joined the bank as senior vice president and treasurer of Cadence Financial Corp. and its wholly owned subsidiary, Cadence Bank.
Taylor has worked in the banking industry for more than six years, coming to Cadence from The South Financial Group in Greenville, S.C., a $14 billion financial institution, where he served in various positions including capital markets specialist.
While studying in London, Taylor worked as a financial journalist for Euromoney Institutional Investor Plc.
Taylor graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science in international business with an emphasis in finance from Bob Jones University.
He later earned his master of science degree from The London School of Economics and Political Science.
Taylor is a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute and previously served on the Royal Institute of International Affairs. He previously served as president and executive council member for the Upstate Visual Arts in South Carolina.
He and his wife, Jennifer, have made their home in Starkville and are looking forward to getting involved in the local community.
“We welcome Jonathan Taylor to Cadence and look forward to his service to our bank.  He comes to us well prepared to handle his new responsibilities,” Mallory said.

Landscape short course set Dec. 10-12 at MSU

A landscape short course Dec. 10-12 at Mississippi State University will give professionals and enthusiasts a chance to learn more about plants and their maintenance.
Sponsored by the MSU Extension Service, the event will be in Dorman Hall. Early registration is $160 per person if paid by Dec. 1. On-site registration is $200.
The fee covers the cost of educational materials, supplies and some meals.
The short course will cover basic principles of landscape establishment and management.
“A short course is a good vehicle to provide information and retraining for individuals who offer landscaping services, maintain parks and recreation areas, or serve in some capacity as plant professionals,” said Extension ornamental horticulturist Mengmeng Gu.
“While we are targeting these groups, we also want to encourage anyone interested in plants to participate.”
The short course will feature a tree and shrub walk on campus. Classroom topics include plant selection, lawn establishment, proper maintenance, pest control, soil fertility and budgeting for materials.
Participants will have an opportunity to network with Extension professionals and individuals in the landscaping business.
