The Starkville Police Department arrested two men for attempted armed robbery during the early morning hours on Wednesday.

SPD charged 21-year-old Karter Bounds and 19-year-old D'Kerius McCoy with attempted armed robbery following an incident on Holtsinger Avenue.

Court documents provided to the Starkville Daily News via public records request state the two men are accused of breaking into an apartment and attempting to rob the victims at gunpoint.

It is unclear at this time whether the suspects knew the victims at the time of the incident.

Bounds was also charged with possession of a stolen firearm, a .40 caliber Glock, stolen for the purpose of committing a robbery, according to court documents.

Bounds was released on $75,000 bond. McCoy is still in custody with bond set at $50,000.

The initial municipal court appearance for Bounds is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m.

McCoy's initial municipal court appearance is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 18 at 6 p.m.

According to Mississippi Code § 97-3-79, those convicted of robbery will face a minimum of three years in prison.

Mississippi Code § 97-37-35 states it is unlawful for any person knowingly or intentionally to sell, deliver or transfer a stolen firearm or attempt to sell, deliver or transfer a stolen firearm. For the first conviction, the punishment is commitment to the Mississippi Department of Corrections for five years.
