Two juveniles turned themselves in to Starkville police in connection with the Friday shooting death of Decorian K. Coleman, 17, at Camelot Apartments, police said Tuesday afternoon.
The young men - one 15, the other 17 - were booked on armed robbery charges, according to a police news release. The 17-year-old bonded out, but the 15-year-old remains in Oktibbeha County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
Officers answered a shots-fired call about 7:30 p.m. Friday to Camelot Apartments, 1040 N. Montgomery St., and found Coleman on the ground. He died at the scene of a gunshot wound, and his death was ruled a homicide.
That night police arrested Neal Anthony Anderson, 28, on a murder charge; but in a Monday Municipal Court hearing, Police Chief Frank Nichols dropped the charge against Anderson on grounds of insufficient evidence.
Police said Monday evening that the investigation continued, and that they sought "persons of interest" on armed robbery charges, with arrests expected.
Anyone with further information on the incident is asked to call police at 662-323-4131 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
