Many changes are coming to Sunday Funday, a monthly art festival in downtown Starkville, including a board of directors and a new location for this year’s arts festival.

The board of directors for Sunday Funday will be chair Joe MacGown, co-chair Blair Edwards, Rosa Dalomba, Caleb Hutson and Bonnie Brumley. MacGown said after starting Sunday Funday last year, the group wanted to create a more organized board and event.

MacGown said the board members will share equal roles and responsibilities in making Sunday Funday Possible.

“Everyone on this board is equal,” he said. “We are an equal group. It used to be known as The Greater Good Collective, but now we’re doing Sunday Funday.”

Along with the new board of directors, Sunday Funday will be in a new location this year on University Drive next to City Bagel Cafe and the Parthenon-style building, MacGown said.

“We think this is going to be a great area for us,” he said. “They are building the new Midtown Development and we are going to be in that Midtown area. We think it will be a great connection between downtown, MSU and the Cotton District.”

Art vendors during Sunday Funday include handmade clothing, paintings, sculptures, drawings, local authors, ceramics and other handmade goods.

MacGown said Sunday Funday also includes live music, food vendors and a children’s art tent.

MacGown said the group is currently looking for sponsors to be able pay musicians and to allow art vendors to set up their booths for free this year. Food vendors and food trucks will still have to pay a vendor fee. Sunday Funday will begin May 27, and will continue on every fourth Sunday of each month until October from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.
