Sturgis children find their heroes

On June 18, at the first event of the Sturgis Public Library "Every Hero Has a Story" summer reading program, a small group of Sturgis children and their parents listened to stories read by Robert Damm about music heroes such as Miriam the drummer and Charlie Parker who invented doo-wap music. Other stories that were read to the group were Mortimer and Stephanie's Ponytail, both by Robert Munsch. Another was The King's Drum, an African folk tale. The group also learned about and played many different types of percussion instruments.
