Starkville's Miss Hospitality attends Welcome Party

HATTIESBURG – Paige Watson, representing Starkville/Oktibbeha County, met with Dr. Martha Saunders, President of the University of Southern Mississippi, during the MissHospitality Welcome Party held at the president’s home on Monday, July 26th. She was one of 29 contestants who are taking part in the 61st Mississippi Miss Hospitality Pageant, July 25th – July 31st at the Saenger Theater in downtown Hattiesburg.

Paige is the daughter of Chuck and Michele Robertson and Charles and Marcia Watson. She attends Mississippi State University and studies communication with a concentration in public relations. She plans to further her education by attending graduate school with ambitions to eventually work as a Public Relations agent for a corporate or nonprofit organization. Paige volunteers for programs such as, Project AIM in the Starkville School District, nursing homes and her church.

Paige Watson will be competing in the pageant for the title of Mississippi Miss Hospitality and will contend for over $100,000 in scholarships and prizes. The theme for this year’s pageant is “Hospitality is Always in Season” and will feature songs, dance and attire for each season.

During the week, local Miss Hospitalities will also take part in rehearsals, tours, interviews and special events including a city tour, an island themed party and the Miss Hospitality Super Bowl held at Champion Lanes in Hattiesburg. The week will conclude with two nights of competition, beginning Friday, July 30th at 8 p.m., and concluding Saturday, July 31st at 8 p.m.

For 61 years, Mississippi Miss Hospitality has toured the state promoting Mississippi’s tourism, as well as act as a good will ambassador around the state. For the past year, Claire Walley has represented Mississippi, sharing hospitality throughout the state and country. Miss Hospitality travels more than 30,000 miles promoting tourism and economic development.
