Church Bulletin Policies

Due to space constraints, only special events will be listed in Saturday’s Church Bulletin. The newspaper will publish a notice a maximum of three times. If the notice has run once, the newspaper reserves the right not to publish it after its first run if space constraints in subsequent editions dictate.
Notices e-mailed to or typewritten and delivered in person to the office at 304 Lampkin St. or sent via fax at 323-6586 are preferred. Handwritten notices should be legible.
The normal weekly deadline is noon Thursday. Deadline changes due to holidays are typically announced here at least one week in advance.
Church meeting times can be placed on the Starkville Daily News devotional page by contacting the Advertising Department at the newspaper. There is no charge for the listing.

Antioch Missionary Baptist Church

The church, located at the intersection of Spring and Gillespie streets, will host its fall revival Wednesday through Friday at 7 p.m. nightly.
Also, on Sept. 4 at 7:30 p.m., the church will host a singing as a love program for the Grayer family. Plus, church members will take a trip to St. Louis, Mo. Sept. 17-19 and are opening up the opportunity for people to join them.
The cost is $50 round-trip. The deadline to sign up is Sept. 5. For information on all events, call Betty Brown at 341-6345.

Bluegrass Gospel Singings

The first of two singings featuring Alan Sibley & The Magnolia Ramblers will take place at Victory Baptist Church in Mathiston today at 6 p.m.
The second one will be Sept. 10, when the the group will be at Bethany Baptist Church, located on Reform-Sturgis Road in Reform, at 7 p.m. A love offering will be received at both events.  For more information call (662) 617-3744.

Fairview Baptist Church

COLUMBUS — The church, located at 127 Airline Road, will host a “Living Proof Live” simulcast Sept. 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. The event will feature Bible teacher Beth Moore and worship leader Travis Cottrell.
Tickets are free of charge at the church or New Life Christian Supplies on Highway 45 North. Lunch tickets are available for $5 and need to be purchased by Sept. 15. Love offerings will be accepted.

First Baptist Cedar Bluff Church

CEDAR BLUFF — The church, located on Highway 50 West, will host revival services Sept. 20-22 at 7 p.m. nightly.  Different speakers will be present each night. These are: Monday night – the Rev. Thomas Rogers – Josey Creek
Missionary Baptist Church; Tuesday night – the Rev. Henry Shelton – Walker Grove M.B. Church and Wednesday night – Rev. Avis Shelton – Pleasant Ridge

Gospelations Gospel Extravaganza 2010
The Gospelations Singers present a Labor Day Weekend Gospel Music Celebration, beginning with a free concert Friday at 6:30 p.m. at East Oktibbeha Elementary School near Starkville.
It will feature special guests the Gospel Legends of Columbia, S.C., along with local groups, promoters and radio announcers.
The Main Event will be Sept. 5 at 5 p.m. at The Civic in West Point, featuring a live video recording by the Gospelations and other groups. Special guests will be the Christian Angels of North Carolina, Castro Coleman & Highly Favored of McComb, and local artists Determined, Revised, the Rev. James Covington & Men of Praise, Sacred Heart Trio, the Gospel Tones, and Stephanie Green-Stubbs.

Mathiston United Methodist Church

MATHISTON — The church, located on Highway 15, will host a fall bake sale Sept. 4 from 8 a.m. to noon in the Fellowship Hall.
Organizers invite those interested to join them for a cup of coffee and shop for delicious goodies.
Also available will be white elephant and gift items. This event is sponsored by the United Methodist Women.

New Prairie Grove Missionary Baptist Church

The church’s Male Choir will start their 27th anniversary celebration today at 6:30 p.m. and conclude it Sunday at 3:30 p.m. For information, contact Rodney Pope at 324-0701.

Oktibbeha County Ministerial Alliance

The organization’s next First Sunday Community Fellowship Worship Service will be Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m.
The Rev. Alex Jordan Jr. of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church will bring the message.
Josey Creek Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1578 Highway 182 West, is the host church.
Pastor Robert T. Branson Sr. is the alliance’s president.

Piney Grove Baptist Church

COLUMBUS — The church will celebrate pastor Michael (first lady Koretta) Reed’s 12th anniversary Sept. 12 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Covington Jr. along with the Mt. Olivet Church family as the morning service guests.
The celebration will conclude at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Al Lathan Sr. along with Third Mt. Olivet as the special guests.

Pleasant Grove Pools Missionary Baptist Church

WEST POINT — The church, located at 3589 Waverly Road, will host its Usher Anniversary celebration Sunday at 3 p.m.
The Rev. Gene King Sr. of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Prairie will be the guest preacher.
The Rev. James A. Richardson Sr. is Pleasant Grove Pools’ pastor.

Sand Creek Chapel Missionary Baptist Church

The church will hold its annual Family and Friends program Sept. 5 during the morning service.
The time of the program is 10:45 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Michael Taylor will be the guest preacher for the occasion.
Dinner will be served following the service. Deacon Curtis Moore is the program sponsor.

Starkville Assembly of God

Scot Riley, the church’s pastor, extends an invitation to encounter eye-opening information which will inform, educate and activate understanding of the beauty of God’s grace which has been poured out on our nation, looking at the roots of the beginning to the country’s founding fathers, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and all that came after.
The series title is: “How Did We Get from There to Here?” The final session will be Sept. 7 and entitled “A Biblical Christian World View.”
The speaker will be Paige Lawes – high school history teacher, Youth With A Mission lecturer, Concerned Women for America Hawaii state director and owner of Three Generations Tea Room.

Truevine Missionary Baptist Church

The church’s Junior Choir will celebrate their 21st anniversary Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. All area choirs are invited. The Rev. Gregory D. Mostella is the church’s pastor.

Zion Cypress United Methodist Church
The Western Oktibbeha County Union Singing Convention will convene at the church on Highway 25 South today at 5 p.m.
The Rev. Ted Taylor will be the speaker and Sunday at 10 a.m.
