Starkville aldermen vote to take down the state flag

Staff Writer

The Starkville Board of Aldermen voted Tuesday evening to take down the state flag at city-owned properties. The vote was 4-to-3 in favor of removing the banner. Starkville joins Columbus, Grenada, Clarksdale, Magnolia and Hattiesburg in having the flag removed. Some view the Mississippi state flag as offensive because it contains the Confederate emblem.
