Starkville 45, Clinton 7

With impending rain moving through the area on Friday night, it certainly didn’t seem like Starkville was affected.
The Yellowjackets racked up 403 yards of total offense despite four first half turnovers and saw a huge game from A.J. Brown lead to a 45-7 win over Clinton for the Class 6A, Region 2 championship.
The SHS defense held things in check for the majority of the game with another stifling showing in the victory.
“Our defense has been good all year,” Starkville head coach Ricky Woods said. “Offensively, we turned the ball over four times, but we played well. Overall, I think we had a good performance (Friday night). I’m just proud to come out the district champs.”
