Former Mississippi State pitcher Jonathan Papelbon was selected to the 2015 Major League Baseball National League All-Star team, MLB announced late Monday night. With his sixth career selection to the Midsummer Classic, the Philadelphia Phillies closer tied Will Clark for most all-star nods in MSU history.
In his fourth season with Philadelphia and 11th big league campaign overall, Papelbon owns a microscopic 1.65 ERA in 31 appearances and is a perfect 14-for-14 in save opportunities. The right-hander has struck out 34 batters and walked just seven, holding hitters to a .213 average at the plate.
