The Starkville Lady Yellowjackets used a one-two punch to fend off the scrappy Southaven Lady Chargers on Saturday afternoon.
Tabreea Gandy kept SHS afloat in the first half scoring all 12 of her points and Tanita Thompson delivered the knockout blow with eight points in the fourth quarter as the Lady Jackets topped Southaven 56-49 at the Beehive.
“I’m really pleased with the efforts of both Tanita and Tabreea,” Starkville head coach Kristie Williams said. “It’s great to see that we have several players that can step up at any point and help us out. It’s good to see that at any point, if someone else isn’t having their best night, someone else can fill in.”
Thompson finished with a team-leading 15 points for the Lady Jackets (20-2, 6-0).
