With the 34th overall pick in the draft, the St. Louis Cardinals selected Mississippi State's Dakota Hudson. The slot value for the 34th pick is set at $1,878 million.
The junior right-handed pitcher became the 13th player in MSU history to be taken in the first round of the MLB Draft.
Hudson is the first Bulldog to go in the opening round since former outfielder Hunter Renfroe went 13th overall to the San Diego Padres in 2013.
