There was no question who was the better team on this night.

In front of a season-best crowd of 9,001 at Humphrey Coliseum, Mississippi State jumped out to a 5-0 lead early and never looked back en route to a win against Ole Miss to earn the season split.

Quinndary Weatherspoon was impressive inside and out, scoring a team-high 16 points while collecting 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the year. He was one of four players in double-digits for the Bulldogs, along with Tyson Carter (15), Nick Weatherspoon (15) and Xavian Stapleton (10).

With the win, MSU improved to 19-8 overall and evened its record in SEC play at 7-7. The Bulldogs also set a Humphrey Coliseum record with 17 victories.

“They brought the intensity and focus, and it really showed tonight from the get-go,” said MSU coach Ben Howland, who collected his 450th win. “I was happy about the defense in the first half, which caused them to shoot 27 percent. We really exerted our toughness and quickness in how we defended them.”
