MHP out in force this weekend

The Mississippi Highway Patrol will be out in force to monitor highways during the Labor Day weekend.Its 2015 Labor Day Enforcment Period begins Friday at 6 p.m. and will conclude Monday at midnight. MHP says it will establish safety checkpoints to promote seatbelt useage and keep impaired drivers off the roadways. Saturation patrols will also be conducted to combat careless and reckless driving, speeding and distracted driving issues. Last year, troopers investigated 113 crashes including 2 fatalities during the Labor Day enforcement period.
