STURGIS –– The funeral for Mavis Garner will be held today at 1 p.m. at Morgan Chapel Baptist Church in Sturgis with burial in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Ralph Windle will officiate.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Garner, 79, died on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at the OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville.
She was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
She leaves behind a husband of 59 years, James Ray Garner of Sturgis; daughters Beth Hathcock of Cedar Bluff, Amy Smith of Nesbit and Meg Gregory of Sturgis; son, Dennis Garner of Sturgis; grandchildren, Joshua Hathcock, Jeremy Hathcock, Nikki Smith Wood, Lainee Smith Jeffers, Shelby Smith, Cager Garner, Travis Garner, Joby Garner, Will Gregory, Evan Gregory and Emily Gregory, great-grandchildren, Avery Garner, Julieanne Wood and Camilla Jeffers; niece, Charlene Doss of Mathiston and great-nice, Joanne Doss of Mathiston.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard M. Collier; mother, Sula M. Thompson Collier; brother, Charlie B. Collier and sister, Bonnie B. Collier,
Pallbearers will be Joshua Hathcock, Jeremy Hathcock, Cager Garner, Travis Garner, Joby Garner, Will Gregory and Evan Gregory.
