The Starkville Lady Yellowjackets know exactly what they are going to get when it comes to playing Northwest Rankin Tuesday night.
In the first two meetings of the season, the Lady Cougars tried to slow the game down and keep the score low against the Lady Jackets.
Starkville won a 25-17 decision in the first meeting and defeated Northwest Rankin 46-22 at the Beehive.
The Lady Jackets expect the Lady Cougars to try the same strategy again when the two teams meet today in the first round of the Class 6A, Region 3 Tournament at 4 p.m. Northwest Rankin hosts the event in Flowood.
"We don't expect anything different, especially with them hosting," SHS girls coach Kristie Williams said. "We're expecting the stall ball to be there (today) and it's going to be a mental grind for those 32 minutes. We like the up and down and they don't typically don't like that against us."
