Hughdolf ‘Buck’ Guin Sr.

The funeral for Hughdolf ‘’Buck” Guin Sr. will be held today at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel in Philadelphia with burial in Bethsaida Cemetery in Neshoba County.
The Rev. David Richardson will officiate.
Visitation will be held today from noon until service time at McClain-Hays Funeral Home.
Mr. Guin, 88, of Starkville, died Sunday, August 22, 2010 at the OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville.
He was a native of Millport, Ala. and lived in Starkville for the past 18 years. He was retired from Bell South Telephone Company after 40 years of service.Mr. Guin was a member of First Baptist Church in Columbus.
He served in World War II’s 22nd Infantry, 4th Division in France and Germany and received the American Defense Service Medal, the EAMETO Medal, the Purple Heart with one OLC, and the Bronze Arrowhead.
Survivors include wife of almost 64 years, Ellen Warren Guin of Starkville; daughter, Dr. Mary Linda Guin of Starkville; sons, Hughdolf (Elvie) Guin Jr. of Columbus and Boyce Warren (Mary) Guin of Starkville; granddaughters, Amy (Chip) Lemonds of Columbus and Paige (Cody) Guthrie of Nashville, Tenn.; great-granddaughters, Allison Lemonds and Katelyn Lemonds of Columbus; brother, Wayne (Lois) Guin of Brooksville, Fla.; sisters, Juanita Kipping of Memphis, Tenn. and Lucille (Walton) Youngblood of Madison; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Almos Bascum and Wilma Shaw Guin formerly of Millport, Ala. and brothers, Woodford Guin and Bedford Guin of Natchez.
