"Honey" Best Dog Ever

Staff Writer

It was an emotional, happy day today for our staff and volunteers who said goodbye to Honey who is headed to her forever home on PetSmart Charities Rescue Waggin'. With a special transport just for her leaving from Tennessee today, Animal Care Manager Camille volunteered to chauffeur Honey to her first stop where she would join the Rescue Waggin'.
You might remember five year old Honey from the Dog Paddle last month. Honey was surrendered to us in June when her canine sibling got too rough with her. Honey wins over everyone she meets - she loves all people (children too!), cats, and dogs. At the destination today, she flopped over for belly rubs and gave kisses to everyone who would take them!
Thanks to the Ellen Gray Medical Treatment Grant from PetSmart Charities, we were able to treat Honey for heartworms. A huge thanks to the Kelly family - including junior foster Grant - for fostering Honey while she was being treated.
Camille described Honey as "the best dog EVER. She was the underdog and beat all of the odds - without even knowing that she was in a race!" Camille asked to keep Honey's collar to remember this sweet girl - it is now hanging from her rearview mirror.
Honey's happy tail wouldn't have been possible without the dedicated OCHS staff and volunteers who cared for and loved Honey for over three months, PetSmart Charities for their lifesaving Rescue Waggin' program, the Ellen Gray Medical Treatment Grant, the Kelly family who fostered her, and people like you who support the work of the Oktibbeha County Humane Society. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
