I'm glad to see you are still urging Starkvillians to read. One of my recent reads that I really enjoyed is Hellohound on His Trail:The Stalking of Martin Luther King Jr. and the International Hunt for His Assassin by Hampton Sides. It's a page turner that covers the King assassination from the perspective of James Earl Ray.
I just recently finished rereading TO KILL A MOCKING BIRD because it was our book club selection for September. I am now reading THEIR EYES WERE WATCHING GOD by Zora Neale Hurston. Having been published in 1937, it remains popular today and is considered to be an excellent example of African American literature. BIDDING IN THE 21 CENTURY, a textbook for teaching bridge, is another book that I and may others in town are reading and studying right now.

WITH STRENGTH AND SPIRIT A novel about WWII and a family that lived through that era and the things that they did. A sister, her husband and her two younger brothers. The sister and husband were radio broadcasters and the two brothers joined the Navy just before the war started. It is based on a real family and their lives.
