First United Methodist Church will present Tom Walker’s Gospel Train Big Band on Sunday, April 2 in the church sanctuary.

The music event will start at 5 p.m. and is free to the public.

Tom Walker is a native of Columbus and leads a band that plays gospel music with an artistic twist, incorporating the sounds of the Big Band Era in the 20th Century.

The band is made up of professional and student jazz musicians and plays traditional gospel songs such as “Amazing Grace,” “His Eye Is on the Sparrow,” “The Old Rugged Cross,” and “There’s within My Heart a Melody.”

The performance will also feature Walker's wife, Marsha Walker, as feature vocalist and the program will feature the Chancel Choir and Ladies Ensemble of First United Methodist Church as they sing “Shout to the Lord” and “Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho.”

An offering will be taken up to help with event costs.

First United Methodist Church is located at 200 W. Lampkin St.
