Jody Wayne Britt, 30, from Madison, Mississippi has been charged with two counts of enticement of a child. After coaching at Starkville Academy for two years, Britt was hired as the baseball coach at Ridgeland High School earlier this year.

Enticement of a child is a crime that involves persuading, or attempting to persuade a child to accompany him or her for the purposes of sexual activity, according to USlegal.com.

A news release by Starkville Police Department said Britt was arrested after incidents last week were reported to authorities. The news release also said bond was set at $35,000 per count, totaling $70,000. Britt was processed and posted bond.

Starkville Academy Head of School Jeremy Nicholas issued a statement on behalf of the school Tuesday afternoon.

"We were very surprised to recently learn about the allegations concerning our former employee, Mr. Britt," Nicholas said. "The welfare of all students is always of paramount concern for us. Therefore, we have and will continue to cooperate as needed with the Starkville Police Department in this matter."
