The East Webster Wolverines have bragging rights for another year in Webster County.
The Maroon Bowl was filled with hard-nosed defense, but the Wolverines used a late touchdown to pull away and pitch the shutout over the Eupora Eagles 21-0.
The win for East Webster was its second-straight in the series and moved them to 10-1 this season and earned a second-place finish in Class 2A, Region 4.
“Our kids played hard,” Wolverines' head coach Doug Wilson said. “We told them you have to weather the storm of the big rivalry game and just settle in and do what we’ve been doing. Our kids played hard and knew how important it was for our 17 seniors to get to play again (in Cumberland) next week.”
