Dietrich will not be next pitching coach for MSU

Jason Dietrich will not be the next pitching coach at Mississippi State.
The Cal State Fullerton coach, who was quickly labeled as the favorite to replace Butch Thompson at MSU after Thompson left to become the head coach at Auburn last week, visited Starkville over the weekend.
According to a source, Dietrich was never given an official offer to come to Mississippi State and both sides mutually agreed that the match wasn’t a fit after a phone conversation on Monday morning.
"It was an honor to be considered for the position at Mississippi State,” Dietrich said in an emailed statement. “Everyone from (MSU head coach) John Cohen to the Mississippi State staff and city of Starkville were incredible and I got the royal treatment during my visit this past weekend. In the end and after consulting with my family, I've decided to stay at Cal State Fullerton.”
