Over the next two weeks, recruiting for Starkville High School athletes will be at an all-time high.
At least one of the big-time talents on the Class 6A State championship team ended his recruitment on Saturday and will be staying in the state of Mississippi.
Defensive lineman Lorenzo Dantzler, a 247Sports three-star performer, took a trip to Hattiesburg and Southern Mississippi with one thing in mind – to become a Golden Eagle. He made it known via Twitter that he would continue his career in a black and gold uniform with the Golden Eagles.
“I pretty much knew I was committing to Southern a few weeks ago,” Dantzler said. “The people down there treat you like family. As soon as I got there, everybody knew my name and accepted me. I like the academic plan and believe that USM is on the rise.”
For more on Dantzler's decision, see the story by Starkville Daily News sports writer Robbie Faulk in Monday's newspaper.
