A Columbus-Starkville Art Exchange
For the Daily News
The Starkville Area Arts Council and the Columbus Arts Council have decided to share some of their local artistic talent.
The GSDP (Greater Starkville Development Partnership) lobby is home to a collection of art from the Columbus Arts Council, featuring some of their talented artists’ 3-Dimentional work as well as 2-Dimentional art.
Many of the artists are well-known in the Columbus area and surrounding states, but not as familiar to the Starkville area, so this provides us the perfect opportunity to acquaint ourselves with their work.
Since the two art communities have such an abundance of talent, we felt this would be an ideal way to treat both areas to some spectacular artwork.
The show will run through Monday, November 1. The GSDP is located at 200 E. Main St., Starkville, and is open 9 a.m. until 5p.m. Monday through Friday.
A reception will be given in honor of the exhibit on Thursday, September 23, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the lobby.
The Rosenzweig Art Center will be featuring a collection of art from several well-known artists in the Starkville area and many have their work galleried in neighboring states.
The 3-Dimentional and 2-Dimentional talents of our local artisans will be exhibited to familiarize the Columbus art community with the work we have been privileged to know in our town and surrounding areas.
This exhibit will be on through September 30.
The Rosenzweig Art Center is located at 501 Main Street, Columbus, and is open from 9 a.m. through 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
A reception will be given in honor of the show on Thursday, September 16, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. in the Rosenzweig gallery.
If you need additional information or have questions, contact Candy Crecink at the SAAC office at 324-3080 or visit the website at http://www.starkvillearts.org.
Visit both of these great shows and treat yourself to exhibits that are representative of the wide spectrum of talent in two cities in our area, and the receptions are also to honor the wonderful artists participating in this exhibit.
