Ackerman loses decision on road

PHILADELPHIA – The Ackerman Indians couldn't take advantage of five Choctaw Central turnovers and dropped a tough 21-18 decision on the road Thursday night.
The Indians held an 18-14 lead with less than 2 minutes remaining, but the home-standing Warriors hit a big pass play of 30 yards from quarterback Garrick Stoliby to Kanyon Jimmie for the winning touchdown.
It only took three plays for Ackerman to score its first touchdown of the game as Josh Dempsey found the end zone from 8 yards out with approximately 10 minutes remaining in the first quarter. The extra-point attempt failed and the Indians took a 6-0 lead.
After the fourth turnover of the first half by Choctaw Central, Ackerman scored again on another 8-yard run - this time by K.J. Woods. The attempt to run in the two-point conversion failed and the Indians increased the margin to 12-0 with 27 seconds left in the second quarter.
Choctaw Central took a 14-12 lead in the third quarter on a pair of touchdown runs by Stoliby.
Woods scored his second touchdown of the game for the Indians with a 2-yard run at the 4:34 mark of the fourth quarter and Ackerman regained the lead at 18-14.
Choctaw Central improved to 4-2, while Ackerman fell to 1-5.
The Indians remain on the road one week from today when they make the trip to J.Z. George.
