East Oktibbeha County High School senior Shondra Nichols is a well-rounded student and this week’s academic all-star.
“Shondra does well not only in academics but excels in athletics as well,” teacher Pam Roberts said. “She’s a well-rounded student and exhibit great character.”
Shondra is a member of both the varsity softball and basketball teams. In basketball, she was named defensive player of the year. Outside of school, Shondra is a member of her church choir and enjoys crocheting.
In school, Shondra is on the A and B honor roll and lists math as her favorite subject “because it’s challenging,” she said.
She takes her academic career seriously and says that EOCHS is a great learning environment with caring teachers who push their students to excel, she said.
“I want to learn because I know when I get out of high school everything I do will be based upon what I have learned,” Shondra said.
“Shondra shows great leadership potential towards her fellow classmates and teammates,” Roberts said. “She approaches and meet all challenges with a positive attitude. She leads by example and encourages her classmates to do the same.”
Shondra has received awards in school for having the highest class average in pre-algebra, algebra I and II and Spanish.
Shondra is the daughter of Angela Brown and Lonzie Nichols.
