‘The Mag’ preps for 21st year

The final touches are being put on the 2018 installment of the Magnolia Independent Film Festival, which is slated for March 1 through March 3.

For the first time in 2018, the festival has been reorganized into a 501(c)(3) entity as part of its strategy for growth.

According to the organization, the 2018 installment has seen a record number of entries.

The three-day film festival will be held at Starkville’s Hollywood Premier Cinemas.

Sponsors for the 2018 festival include: the Starkville Area Arts Council, Holiday Inn Express, Scotty’s Wine & Spirits, Copy Cow, Nine-Twentynine Coffee Bar, Mississippi Film Office and Sweetgum Brewing Co.

Ron Tibbett founded the festival in 1997, making it the first independent film festival in Mississippi.
