Knicks acquire Starkville's Outlaw from the Kings in four-player deal

Starkville native Travis Outlaw is bringing his skills back to the East Coast.
The New York Knicks announced on Wednesday that they have acquired Outlaw and fellow forward Quincy Acy from the Sacramento Kings for guard Wayne Ellington and forward Jeremy Tyler.

Big expectations placed on MSU's Jones

Chris Jones' joking attitude may take a backseat this season.
The Mississippi State sophomore defensive lineman enters his second season with big expectations on his shoulders. He was a highly sought after recruit out of Houston High School and didn't disappoint in his first year with the Bulldogs.
With those expectations, Jones may be locked in more this season than he was last.

Mississippi State co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach John Hevesy will decide on game day who his starters up front will be.
He lost two starters from the 2013 squad in left guard Gabe Jackson, who is now playing for the Oakland Raiders and right tackle Charles Siddoway.

One more team earned a spot in the conversation as the Eupora Braves, a 14-under AA baseball team, concluded their season with a second-place finish at the USSSA World Series.

The Mississippi State women's basketball team will have a mix of youth and experience for the 2014-15 season.
MSU coach Vic Schaefer said the trip to Europe that is currently taking place for his team will benefit both areas.
Schaefer has watched as the Bulldogs have done a good job separating business from pleasure.

Jackets ahead of game after first day

The Starkville Yellowjackets are even farther ahead of the game after one day of preseason practice than they were at this time last year.
Not only do the Jackets return a veteran team, but they already have two practices under their belt that they didn't have last year. The first day of drills was washed out in 2013 because of rain.
