Lady Wolverines take physical win in Class 2A semis

JACKSON – In a physical game, the East Webster Lady Wolverines dug in deep to survive and beat Newton 51-35 to advance to the Class 2A State championship game.

Austin Sexton and Vance Tatum threw a combined 43 innings for Mississippi State as freshmen a season ago.
The duo has already thrown 43 1/3 innings this season and the Bulldogs are only 19 games in.
Both Sexton and Tatum have found themselves in the starting rotation the last three weekends, and MSU head coach John Cohen saw two totally different pitchers this past fall.

State fails to get runs across in home baseball loss

Mississippi State had plenty of chances to push runners across the plate Wednesday night.
The Bulldogs just didn't capitalize on the opportunities.
No. 16 MSU left 11 men on base, as it fell 3-1 to Western Kentucky at Dudy Noble Field to split a two-game midweek series.

Lady Wolverines one of four teams left standing in 2A

It's down to four teams. 
That is all that remains standing in Class 2A basketball and one of those teams are the East Webster Lady Wolverines.
"It is always a good thing to keep playing," East Webster coach Bill Brand said. "We are in the final four now. One of the four best teams in the state. That is something for everybody to be proud of, (and) for the girls to be proud of."

Sword of the Bulldogs makes second team All-SEC

Craig Sword didn't play in the first four games of the season due to having back surgery in October.
The Mississippi State junior guard didn't score until the eighth game and didn't score in double digits until the final game in December.

Mississippi State head coach John Cohen paced back and forth in the dugout all afternoon long.
John Holland relieved some of that stress for his coach.
The junior had a walk-off RBI single to lift No. 16 MSU past Western Kentucky 6-5 in 10 innings Tuesday at Dudy Noble Field.

Mississippi State fans should have a new found respect for quarterback Dak Prescott.
I know I do.
It has been known for quite some time now that Prescott is a fine, upstanding young man and represents the Bulldogs with class and dignity, but the way he handled a very bad situation on Monday reenforced that idea.
He turned the other cheek.

Mississippi State football players Dak Prescott, Damian Williams and Torrey Dale were attacked in Panama City on Monday, a source close to the football program said.
M&WN Football first reported the news.
The source said the MSU football players "were jumped" and did not "instigate" the incident.
