Sweep for Starkville: Lady Yellowjackets claim first district title since 2009

The Starkville Lady Yellowjackets won the Class 6A, Region 3 championship off the free-throw line on Friday night.
When the Columbus Lady Falcons were making a late-game charge at SHS, the Lady Jackets stepped up to the line and made 9-of-10 shots in the final 2 minutes to capture a 59-52 victory and the trophy.

SHS handles Madison Central to capture boys region crown

The Starkville High School Yellowjackets made it a successful sweep in the Class 6A, Region 3 championship games for the boys and girls teams on Friday night by taking care of business with a 78-53 win over the Madison Central Jaguars at the Beehive.
Starkville, which improved to 22-5, split with Madison Central during the regular season, including a 71-58 victory.

Lady Wolverines get championship for 2A, Region 4

MABEN – It took every ounce of fight both teams had.
Still at the end of 32 minutes, East Webster stood proudly as the Class 2A, Region 4 champions following a 62-56 defeat of Calhoun City.

MABEN – County rivals took to the court Friday in Class 2A, Region 4 boys consolation action.
Eupora traveled over to East Webster and as expected, the teams played hard to the very end with the Eagles taking the 63-48 win.

MSU sees a quick turnaround, plays Arkansas at home today

Mississippi State doesn't have much time to digest Thursday's loss to Ole Miss.
The Bulldogs have less than 48 hours to get ready for the next game.
MSU plays host to No. 18 Arkansas today at Humphrey Coliseum. Tip is set for 3 p.m. and can be seen on Fox Sports Net.

MSU rallies to defeat Marshall to open weekend

Mississippi State trailed Cincinnati three times last weekend.
All three times, the Bulldogs came from behind for a victory.
MSU trailed once again on Friday, and once again, it mounted a rally to take a victory. This time the No. 18 Bulldogs had a late comeback to down Marshall 6-2 on a chilly night at Dudy Noble Field.

Bulldogs can't finish job: Ole Miss sweeps season series from MSU for first time since 1998

Mississippi State has had all kind of success against Ole Miss in Humphrey Coliseum. 
The Bulldogs entered Thursday night's game winning 15 of the last 16 meetings against the Rebels at home.
Ole Miss got one this time around.
MSU fell 71-65 to Ole Miss as the Rebels swept the season series for the first time since 1998. 

State's Ray fails to get a win over Ole Miss during regular season

Rick Ray had at least one win against Ole Miss in his first two seasons.
Both of those wins came at Humphrey Coliseum, but he will leave this season without a win against the in-state rival. State could get another opportunity in the Southeastern Conference Tournament, but not likely.

Lady Wolverines click to handle Lady Trojans in region tourney

MABEN – The East Webster girls basketball team arrived on the hardwood Thursday firing on all cylinders.
Not once did the Lady Wolverines waiver from their game plan and in the end, it paid off with a Class 2A, Region 4 Tournament 81-29 victory over the Bruce Lady Trojans.

MABEN – After trailing most of the game, the Eupora girls basketball team came soaring back in the final seconds to give the Lady Wildcats a fight. 
Still Calhoun City managed to hold on for a 74-71 Class 2A, Region 4 Tournament victory.
In the beginning, it seemed Calhoun City might walk away with its game over Eupora, the Lady Eagles however had other plans.
