Defensive lineman Lorenzo Dantzler proclaimed that the Starkville Yellowjackets wanted to shut out all division opponents.
They are off to a good start.
After two Class 6A, Region 2 games, Starkville has outscored Columbus and Northwest Rankin 85-0.
The Jackets go for number three tonight when they host the Greenville Hornets. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

MABEN – There is a certain challenge that comes with facing a team ranked No. 1. 
That's what the East Webster Wolverines face this week when they make the trip to play the Calhoun City Wildcats, which are the top team in Class 2A.
The Wolverines (6-1) know the test that awaits against the undefeated Wildcats (7-0).

French Camp Academy has taken no shortcuts when it comes to scheduling this season.
Right out the gate the Panthers took on top teams like Choctaw County and Eupora. While the wins did not come for coach Nathan Wright, there was a number of positives that emerged from those games.

Building process ongoing for Short with the Hornets

Coach Phil Short calls the football program at Greenville High School a "work in progress."
The Hornets are in a transition stage with the return of Short, who led the program about 10 years ago.
"I was here when Bill Lee was (the coach at Starkville) so we competed against each other during that time," Short said. "I'm back into it again so it's a different experience. It's coming along."

Lady Yellowjackets compete well in 6A volleyball in the second year

Unfamiliar territory is exactly what Lauren Love's volleyball team embarked on when they moved up to Class 6A.
There were some bumps and bruises during the first year, but those have been sorted through. Now as the regular season comes to a close, Starkville finds itself with a 19-10 overall and 6-1 divisional record and sitting in second place in the division behind DeSoto Central.
