With football, there is really no marking point, but if there was, area teams have approached that point. 
Choctaw County is one of those teams and across the board, the Chargers look to be in just the right spot.

POWER SHIFT: Bulldogs thrive again against a top 10 team

The Mississippi State Bulldogs had a tall task in front of them the last three games.
Each game was against a team ranked in the top 10. That didn't bother the Bulldogs.
MSU beat its third straight top 10 team as the No. 3 Bulldogs downed No. 2 Auburn 38-23 Saturday afternoon in the first matchup between top five teams at Davis Wade Stadium.

The smile that former Mississippi State quarterback Wayne Madkin had on his face at the end of Saturday's game said it all.
When the Bulldogs knocked off the Auburn Tigers 38-23 at Davis Wade Stadium, there were many more people that put on a happy face.
A record crowd of 62,945 left Davis Wade Stadium in a very joyful mood after a third-consecutive victory by MSU over a top 10 opponent.

Early on, it looked like the Mississippi State defense was going to hold the high-powered Auburn offense in check.
They created two turnovers on the first two Tiger offensive plays that led to Bulldog touchdowns. The Bulldogs led 21-0 after the first quarter, and the Bulldog defense held on down the stretch as No. 3 MSU upended No. 2 Auburn 38-23 at Davis Wade Stadium Saturday.

The Mississippi State offense felt like something had to be done in the second quarter of Saturday's game against the Auburn Tigers.
Auburn had scored 13 non-answered points against MSU and had gotten back into the game to a certain degree.

There was no shortage of people on Mississippi State's campus Saturday. As the day progressed, 62,945 fans packed into Davis Wade Stadium to watch the Bulldogs defeat Auburn 38-23.
While impressive just in terms of sheer numbers, the attendance figure marked the largest on-campus crowd in the history of the state of Mississippi.

Starkville's starters kicked their feet up and got to watch about three quarters of football.
The reason why was because of a 35-0 lead in the first quarter. The Jacket backups played the final three quarters as No. 1 Starkville rolled to an easy 38-0 victory over Greenville Friday night at Yellowjacket Stadium.

Vols use big plays to defeat Panthers

Big plays were the theme of the night for the Starkville Academy Volunteers, who defeated visiting French Camp Academy 33-6.
"French Camp did a great job and their kids played hard," Volunteers coach Jeff Terrill said. "I am going to be honest, the old ball just bounced our way (Friday night). We were fortunate to get some big plays that I don't know we earned. We just had a favorable bounce."
