Thursday evening not only saw the ending of the baseball season for Starkville Academy and the career for seven seniors with the Volunteers, but it was also the final time that Neal Henry would be on the field with SA.

Starkville Academy has season come to a close

As the sun went down on Thursday, it also signified the end of the Starkville Academy baseball season.
Despite fighting hard all game long and throughout the entire postseason, the Volunteers dropped an 8-3 contest to the Washington Generals.

SHS stumbles in 9-1 loss

Starkville head coach Brian Jones wanted his team to play loose and like there was no pressure.
Although the Yellowjackets held a 1-0 lead over the Oxford Chargers in a Mississippi High School Athletic Association Class 5A playoff series, they didn't play like a team with a lead.

ACKERMAN – It was getting dark, it was raining and the Ackerman Indians were running out of outs.
Trailing 4-2 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, Logan Black and the Indians decided it was time to do something about the situation.

Indians anxious to resume play in baseball

It has been a week and a half since the Ackerman Indians have played a baseball game.
The weather could make that wait even longer.
The second round Class 2A playoff series between the Indians and Loyd Star is scheduled to start today at 5 p.m. in Ackerman, but there is more rain in the forecast.

Bulldogs to host men's tennis regional

Mississippi State's men's tennis team won't have to travel to compete in the postseason for the second-straight season.

Jackets beat Chargers 6-5 in baseball

OXFORD – Three Starkville High School pitchers kept the Oxford Charger bats at bay long enough for the Yellowjackets to go on the road and get the second-round Class 5A playoffs series started on the right note.
Max Bartlett, Tanner Jones and Tanner Clanton of SHS combined to hold Oxford to seven hits on its home field and the Jackets came away with a 6-5 victory on Tuesday night.

SA drops first game of baseball series

GREENVILLE – The Starkville Academy Volunteers have their game faces on as it prepares for game two of the MAIS AAA-II baseball playoffs.
After dropping game one by a score of 3-1 to Washington School, the Vols look for more production on Thursday than they did in Tuesday's first outing.
