Commodores cruise: Vanderbilt doubles up the score on MSU 16-8

HOOVER, Ala. – A year ago at this time, Mississippi State was getting ready for the Southeastern Conference Tournament championship game.
It is a different story this year.
The No. 18 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs fell 16-8 to the No. 1 Vanderbilt Commodores in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

It has been long enough.
When it comes to hosting an NCAA college baseball regional tournament, Mississippi State has been left out of the picture for 10 years now.
The last time the Bulldogs hosted a regional was in 2003. That's when MSU welcomed teams like North Carolina, Middle Tennessee and future Southeastern Conference member Missouri to Starkville.

Two teams left standing at SEC Tournament

HOOVER, Ala. – What started as 12 teams at the Southeastern Conference Tournament has been dwindled down to just two.
The No. 2 seed LSU Tigers (51-9) eliminated the No. 3 seed Arkansas Razorbacks (37-20) 3-1, to advance to Sunday’s tournament championship.

Oh, what a relief: Bullpen throwing up scoreless innings for Bulldogs

The Mississippi State bullpen isn't intimidated by the Southeastern Conference Tournament.
Bulldog relief pitchers have been taking the mound at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium with a great deal at stake.
They have answered the call.
The MSU bullpen has tossed 42 1/3 scoreless innings in the SEC Tournament dating back to last year's tournament. 

Huge Titans look to make improvement over summer

The East Oktibbeha Titans plan to have the type of football team this fall that makes their nickname a reality.
East Oktibbeha coach Randy Brooks said the offensive line will average about 300 pounds from tackle to tackle and looks to use that size as an advantage.

Frazier leads Bulldogs: MSU junior shortstop has four hits in victory

HOOVER, Ala. – Adam Frazier is making a case for another Southeastern Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player.
The Mississippi State junior led the No. 18 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs with four hits as they knocked off Texas A&M 6-4 Thursday night in the tournament. 

SMITH COLUMN: SEC Tournament always provides a surprise or two

There's usually a surprise or two that happens during the week of the Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament.
It has been no different so far this year.
The No. 1 team in the country went down when the Vanderbilt Commodores were shut out by Texas A&M 5-0 on Wednesday, then in another twist, Arkansas defeated LSU 4-1 Thursday afternoon.

Rebels lose two 10-inning games, eliminated

HOOVER, Ala. – For the third day in a row, the Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament featured an extra-inning game. This time there were two. 
The No. 7 seed Alabama Crimson Tide (34-25) beat the No. 6 Ole Miss Rebels (37-22) 7-5 in 10 innings in the first game to eliminate the Rebels.

Getting job done late: Rea's eighth-inning single helps Bulldogs get 5-3 win

HOOVER, Ala. – Mississippi State was not ready to play another extra-inning game.
Wes Rea took care of that in the top of the ninth.
Rea singled to right field with the bases loaded bringing home the go ahead run and the No. 18 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs outlasted the No. 15 South Carolina Gamecocks 5-3 Wednesday night in the Bulldog's 100th Southeastern Conference Tournament game.

Extra innings remains a story on second day

HOOVER, Ala. - There was the feeling of "here we go again" during the first full game Wednesday of the Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament.
After Mississippi State and Missouri played 17 innings to close the first round of the event on Tuesday night that lasted into Wednesday morning, the first scheduled game on Wednesday also went into extra innings.
