Bulldogs play Tigers in rare Monday women's game

The Mississippi State women's basketball team may not have played on Sunday, but it was hardly a day of rest.
They still had to prepare to go on the road today for an encounter with the Auburn Tigers.
That's life in the Southeastern Conference and one that MSU coach Vic Schaefer understands well.

MSU's Ray believes squad getting better

Mississippi State is improving according to head coach Rick Ray.
After starting 0-3 in Southeastern Conference play, the Bulldogs are 2-1 since that time and have played better.
The two wins came over Vanderbilt, which snapped a 16-game regular season losing streak in league play, and Auburn, the first win on the road in 23 tries for the Bulldogs.

State fails to finish: Georgia takes SEC win at Humphrey Coliseum

Georgia held the door open for Mississippi State a couple of times in the second half to take back the lead.
The home-standing Bulldogs just didn't walk through it.
MSU dropped a 72-66 decision to Georgia Saturday afternoon at Humphrey Coliseum to end a two-game winning streak.

Anytime Mississippi State gets a chance to recognize someone like Bailey Howell, it's a very-much deserved thing.
On Saturday afternoon, the greatest player in MSU history had the road surrounding Humphrey Coliseum named for him and will forever be known as Bailey Howell Drive.

ACKERMAN – Jeff King of Mississippi High School Sports handed out a Player of the Game certificate for each outing of the Bullock Toyota Mid-Mississippi Challenge on Saturday.
In the first game, Brysa Maxwell of Choctaw County was the recipient of that award.

SHS soccer teams conclude season with a sweep

Break out the brooms because Saturday afternoon Starkville High School finished off the soccer season with a two-game sweep of Columbus.
The Lady Yellowjackets, who got the 7-1 victory.
"It was a great day of soccer," Starkville girls coach Anna Albritton said. "The girls played well. We were able to get in some young girls, which is good for the future."

This season has been about nothing but streaks for Mississippi State.
First it was the 16-game losing streak to Southeastern Conference opponents. That was snapped with a home win over Vanderbilt last Saturday.
Then it was a 22-game road losing streak. That was dismantled with a win over Auburn the last time out on Wednesday.
