Bulldogs expect 'great challenge' from Cowboys

There is only one word Mississippi State defensive coordinator Geoff Collins can say when asked about facing an Oklahoma State offense.
That word is challenge.
The Bulldogs square off against the No. 13 (Associated Press) Cowboys this coming Saturday in Houston, Tex.

MACON – Jamie Mitchell has done several big things as the head coach of the Starkville High School Yellowjackets.
He has taken SHS to the Class 5A State championship two years in a row and won the title last season.
Yet there was one big thing he wanted to do this season, and that was to beat Noxubee County.

MERIDIAN – Johnathan Burton hit a 44-yard field goal for the Starkville Academy Volunteers in the first half, but it was not nearly enough as the homestanding Lamar School Raiders earned a 35-3 victory on Friday night.

FRENCH CAMP – Judging by the way they played Friday night, one would never guess that the Choctaw County Chargers have only been together for a few months.

If Friday night was any indication, the East Webster Wolverines seem to be in good shape.
The Wolverines opened their 2013 campaign at home, defeating the Vardaman Rams 53-6.

Champions clash when SHS meets Noxubee County

The Noxubee County Tigers may not be the same either.
At least for tonight, the two defending state champion high school football teams are bracing for quite a clash.
Starkville, which won the Class 5A State title last year, will be making the trip down to Macon to face last season's Class 4A champion Noxubee County.
