In fact, coach Junior Graham of the Eagles compares it to a certain college football conference.
“For 2A, it is an SEC 2A,” Graham said. “It is all about matchups because each week you are matching up with something different.”

Starkville High School point guard Blair Schaefer has been rewarded for hard work.
Just days before the Lady Yellowjackets begin their season, the program and Schaefer have found out that she was been chosen for The (Jackson) Clarion-Ledger Dandy Dozen team.

The Lions have outscored their opponents 589-33 on their way to a 9-0 record and earning the No. 1 seed out of the MACJC North Division, which is their third in a row.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs are about to start one of those stretches.
The coach Dan Mullen-led Bulldogs (4-3, 1-2) travel to Columbia, S.C., this Saturday to take on the No. 14 South Carolina Gamecocks (6-2, 4-2).

MSU's Evans arrested, released by county jail

Mississippi State football player Quay Evans was arrested on campus Wednesday on suspicion of driving without a license and disregarding a traffic control device, records obtained from Oktibbeha County Jail confirmed.
Evans, 21, has been released.

Holding down line: Young Bell progressing with Jackets

It didn't take long after his name was called that Maleke Bell started making an impact on the Starkville High School defensive line.
Bell went straight to the varsity level as a freshman last season for the Yellowjackets and didn't play on the 9th grade team.
He responded with 10 tackles in 10 games for the SHS varsity, including three tackles for loss.
