Lowrey announces resignation as coach at West Oktibbeha

Adam Lowrey has announced his resignation after five years at the helm of West Oktibbeha football.
Looking back on his time with the Timberwolves, Lowrey is appreciative of the young men that have come through the program and is happy that he had the chance to somehow influence their lives.

League underway at the Sportsplex

Everyone knows about March Madness, but the Starkville Parks and Recreation Department has found a way to start and maintain its version of June Madness.
With a high school basketball league running through the month, teams from all over the area get to keep their skills sharp in the offseason.

Bulldogs forced to today by Bears

Mississippi State will have to wait for another chance to advance to an NCAA Super Regional.
The No. 14 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs dropped a 5-2 decision to Central Arkansas Sunday night in the Starkville Regional.
The No. 1 seed Bulldogs (45-18) and No. 4 seed Bears (42-21) meet again tonight at 7 p.m. to decide who moves on to face Virginia in the Super Regional. 

Freshman Bear blanks Jaguars

Central Arkansas Allen Gum didn't have any problem starting a freshman on the mound in an elimination situation on Sunday afternoon.
Connor Gilmore had a four-hit shutout as the Bears defeated the South Alabama Jaguars 3-0 at Dudy Noble Field.

MSU's double play breaks school mark

The Mississippi State Bulldogs broke a single-season school record against Central Arkansas in the bottom of the fifth with its 72nd double play of the year.
The play began with a Myles Gentry come back whirl around to shortstop Adam Frazier at second, who promptly tossed it to first baseman Wes Rea to end the inning.
 

Delivering in the clutch: MSU offense uses two-out hits for win

With two outs, an offense is really hampered in what it can do.
It didn't bother Mississippi State.
The No. 14 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs scored all their runs with two outs and beat South Alabama 6-2 Saturday night at the Starkville Regional in front of 11,124 fans at Dudy Noble Field.

SMITH COLUMN: Mitchell keeps giving Bulldogs quality outings

The Mississippi State Bulldogs keep putting pitcher Ross Mitchell into tough situations and he keeps delivering.
Mitchell came into Saturday night's game against the South Alabama Jaguars with the Bulldogs trailing 2-0 and Jaguars were at first and third base in the fourth inning.

Bulldogs continue to increase win total

The Mississippi State Bulldogs kept adding to their season win total with Saturday night's 6-2 victory over South Alabama.
By improving to 45-17, the number of victories rates as the most for MSU since 1997 when it was 47-21.
On seven other Bulldogs squads have won more with the record being 54 in 1989. That happened to be MSU head coach John Cohen's junior season at State.

Central Arkansas survives, advances with 6-5 victory

The Central Arkansas Bears had to deal with a little bit of adversity during Saturday afternoon's game against the Mercer Bears.
Central Arkansas endured a weather delay, extra innings and a serious test from Mercer at the NCAA Starkville Regional.

Erasing doubt, lead: Bulldogs withstand test from Bears for 5-3 win

It looked like Mississippi State was going to lose its third straight game to Central Arkansas early on.
The No. 14 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs erased all doubt in the sixth inning.
