Yellowjackets ground Rockets to run table in Region 2 again

Although the district was already won, the Starkville High School football team had several reasons to play hard in the last regular season game.

The Yellowjackets beat the Neshoba Central Rockets 21-10 Friday night at Yellowjacket Stadium.

Starkville Academy has season come to end

SENATOBIA – The Starkville Academy Volunteers saw a tremendous rally come up short in the fourth quarter and couldn't hold off the Magnolia Heights Chiefs in a 40-28 loss on Friday night.

With the loss, Starkville Academy's season came to an end with a final record of 5-7.

Ackerman blanks Broad Street to advance in Class 2A playoffs

ACKERMAN – The Ackerman Indians took the lead in their playoff game against Broad Street Friday night and never looked back.

When action ceased, it was the Indians taking a 38-0 victory over Broad Street.

Weir edges East Oktibbeha 21-20

CRAWFORD – The East Oktibbeha Titans played the Weir Lions in what is likely to be the last football game in Weir High School's history.

Weir is currently awaiting a decision from the U.S. Justice Department that could scatter current students at Weir throughout Choctaw County. Weir currently holds grades pre-kindergarten to 12th grade.

Eupora crushes first round playoff opponent

EUPORA – The Eupora Eagles started the first round of the Class 2A playoffs by beating Coahoma County 49-0 at home Friday.

Eupora's stingy defense had its third shutout of the year.

Quarterback Trey Pittman threw for two touchdowns for the Eagles, a 12-yard reception to Jamall Roby and a 6-yard catch to Juwan Roby.

Trying to win them all: Jackets can sweep region action back-to-back years

The senior football players at Starkville High School can get out the brooms with a victory over the Neshoba Central Rockets tonight.

If the Yellowjackets can take care of business at home, they will cap back-to-back 7-0 seasons in Class 5A, Region 2, District 6. The kickoff against the Rockets is set for 7 p.m.

Starkville Academy set for tough playoff game at Magnolia Heights

The Starkville Academy Volunteers know they just have to get through one game in order to secure a trip to Clinton and the State championship, but that one task will not be an easy one.

Tonight in Senatobia at 7 p.m., the Vols line up against a tough Magnolia Heights team.

Uncertainty surrounds Weir, East Oktibbeha

Football may be ending this season for the Weir Lions and East Oktibbeha Titans, but both hope there are still games to be played beyond this year.

With the future of both teams uncertain, the players are just looking forward to putting it all aside and competing one last time at 7 p.m. in Crawford.

When the team travels to Cleveland Saturday for the State championships, there are 25 Jackets participating.
