Has anyone tried to pinch you yet?

It's worth repeating.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs are ranked No. 1 in football for the first time in school history.
For some, that statement hasn't fully sunk in yet. There have been people that have walked by me asking to be pinched to see if it's real or not.
The Bulldogs have taken advantage of three-straight wins over Top 10 competition and has made the quick rise to the top.

Not only are the Mississippi State Bulldogs ranked No. 1 nationally, the Starkville Yellowjackets are the state’s top-ranked prep team and are No. 6 nationally with a perfect 7-0 record and an air raid game that is tops among their peers.

Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott continues to rack up awards this season.
The junior is the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Bulldogs begin fall baseball practice today

Mississippi State head coach John Cohen and his baseball team have been putting in work for the last two months. 
Even though there has been some things accomplished already in the offseason, the Bulldogs officially begin fall practice today as they scrimmage at Dudy Noble Field at 4:30 p.m.

MSU basketball continues to see injuries

Injuries continue to pester the Mississippi State men's basketball team.
The team announced Monday that junior guard Craig Sword will miss four to six weeks and junior college transfer Johnny Zuppardo will be out for the season.
Sword will have surgery Thursday in Nashville, Tenn., due to irritated nerves in his back caused by a bulging disc. He was MSU's leading scorer a season ago.

Postseason starts for teams, East Webster hosts Puckett

It is a whole new ballgame starting today for area softball teams.
For the 18-3 overall and Class 2A, Region 5 winner East Webster Lady Wolverines, the journey through the postseason begins with welcoming Region 7 runner-up Puckett for a three-game series.

Hebron Christian still in hunt for the football playoffs

PHEBA – The fate of the 2014 season has pretty much come down to the last two regular season games for the Hebron Christian School Eagles.
After a 54-26 loss to Kemper Academy last Friday night, the Eagles believes that it's going to take victories over Central Academy this week and Calhoun Academy on Oct. 31 to make the playoffs.

Auburn win emotional for Bulldog leadership

It was an emotional celebration for three men Saturday night in the end zone of Davis Wade Stadium.
Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen met President Dr. Mark Keenum and Athletic Director Scott Stricklin with the game ball. He presented it to both men after the Bulldogs knocked off No. 2 Auburn 38-23 to move the Bulldogs to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Southeastern Conference.

Choctaw County finds itself in good spot

ACKERMAN – In college, midterm grades tend to be the benchmark of the semester.
With football, there is really no marking point, but if there was, area teams have approached that point. 
Choctaw County is one of those teams and across the board, the Chargers look to be in just the right spot.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs had a tall task in front of them the last three games.
Each game was against a team ranked in the top 10. That didn't bother the Bulldogs.
MSU beat its third straight top 10 team as the No. 3 Bulldogs downed No. 2 Auburn 38-23 Saturday afternoon in the first matchup between top five teams at Davis Wade Stadium.
