Prescott, Robinson carry MSU rushing load

Mississippi State's running game has featured two players this season.
Junior running back Josh Robinson and junior quarterback Dak Prescott have carried the load in the rushing department. Robinson leads the Bulldogs with 1,128 rushing yards. He also has 11 touchdowns.
Prescott was second on the team with 939 rushing yards and has a team-high 13 touchdowns with his legs. 

New home for Christmas: East Webster breaks in gym with tournaments

MABEN – East Webster High School got to unwrap a Christmas present early when it began using a new gymnasium for basketball competition.
After a tornado destroyed the school and old gym in 2013, a newer and better one was constructed.
The new home of the Wolverines has more of a "college feel" to it.

SMITH ON SPORTS: Holiday events a very nice gift for hoops fans

This is the season for hoops.
If you are a fan of high school basketball in this area, the holidays should be your favorite time of the year.
College football bowl games are played throughout the month of December, into January and create most of the sports conversation.
There's no doubt that football is very important also, but it's nice to see basketball have its share of the spotlight.

Bulldogs back in win column, beat Dolphins

It's been nearly a month since Mississippi State saw a tally mark in the win column.
Entering Tuesday night's game against Jacksonville, the Bulldogs were on a five-game losing streak with the last win coming against St. Louis in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Nov. 28.

Starkville Academy soccer continues hard work

Practice makes perfect.
Everyone knows the old adage and at Starkville Academy, it is being applied to this season’s soccer team. After opening up with a couple games against Washington School and Heritage Academy, the Volunteers have taken the remainder of the month of December off to come together as a team, while preparing for the remainder of the season.

MSU's Mullen claims Coach of Year honor from Maxwell Club

The honors keep rolling in for Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen.
The sixth-year head coach has been recognized as the Maxwell Football Club's Collegiate Coach of the Year, which was announced by the organization Monday.

Big fan of his: McReynolds follows progress of nephew Morse from Starkville

She didn't follow the San Francisco Giants until Michael Morse went to the team.
She has now changed loyalty to the Miami Marlins.
When it comes to being a fan, Hadie McReynolds likes the organization that welcomes Morse on board.
McReynolds, who lives and works in Starkville, is the aunt of Morse and definitely keeps up with his progress.

MSU men looking to end losing streak against Jacksonville

Rick Ray and his Mississippi State basketball team took Saturday's loss harder than any they have taken this season.
The Bulldogs dropped a 53-51 decision to USC Upstate in Jackson in that game.
