Finding peace at practice: MSU's Prescott moves on from assault, focused on spring

Spring break was not much of a break for Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott.
The senior, along with Damian Williams and Torrey Dale, was assaulted at a concert in Panama City, Fla., while taking some time off during the week long break from classes. Prescott and his two teammates suffered some minor superficial wounds, but other than that, they were fine.

Howland finalizes MSU staff

Mississippi State head coach Ben Howland has finalized his staff.
It was announced Friday that Korey McCray, Ernie Zeigler and George Brooks will comprise Howland's first staff at MSU. Howland was hired Monday to replace Rick Ray who never had a winning season in his three seasons in Starkville.

Auburn shuts out MSU to open series in SEC

After hammering out 12 hits and scoring 12 runs in the series finale against Kentucky, Mississippi State's offense hit a snag Tuesday night.
The slump continued Friday night.
State was shut out 5-0 by Auburn in a Southeastern Conference series opener at Dudy Noble Field.
The Bulldogs haven't scored in 19 innings.

East Webster wins competitive outing over rival

EUPORA – In Webster County, it's always competitive in sports when the East Webster Wolverines and the Eupora Eagles play each other.
The Wolverines staved off the Eagles down the stretch to win the first county matchup on the diamond 5-4.
The bottom of the second saw Eupora take an early 1-0 lead.

Starkville Academy captures the second game of twinbill

JACKSON – It was not a good night for the pitchers during the game between the Starkville Academy Volunteers and Jackson Academy as the two teams put up 17 runs combined, but the Vols came out on the winning side 9-8 on Thursday.
The game was the second in a doubleheader that lasted well into the evening. Starkville Academy lost the first game 6-0.

MSU looks to have good weekend against Auburn

Mississippi State head coach John Cohen feels like his team is very capable of getting on a roll.
The Bulldogs enter this weekend losing nine out of their last 14. They have also dropped three-straight weekend series, including two in Southeastern Conference play.
MSU looks to start a stretch of good play this weekend, as it hosts Auburn for a three-game set at Dudy Noble Field.

The Southeastern Conference has seen its share of national champions in the sport of softball over the years.
Florida was the team to win it all last season.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs get the opportunity to host the Gators this weekend and as usual coach Vann Stuedeman's squad embraces the opportunity.
