MSU's Mitchell will not change with a new role

Ross Mitchell will continue to be, well, Ross Mitchell.
The role of the Mississippi State junior left hander may be changing. Mitchell is not.
He has spent most of his Bulldog career in the bullpen, but after last weekend, it looks like Mitchell will be thrust into the starting rotation on Southeastern Conference weekends.

The Mississippi State co-offensive coordinator, passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach didn't lose a single player from his group of last season.
The wide receivers will be one of the more flourished and talented position groups for the Bulldogs.

Dan Mullen and John Hevesy aren't big fans of sitting in the office.
The Mississippi State head coach and co-offensive coordinator/offensive line coach, respectively, were glad to be back out on the practice fields as the Bulldogs got the 2014 spring drills underway.
"(It's) great for me," Mullen said. "I love being out there on the field. That's what we love to do."

SHS bounces back for 12-2 home victory

The Starkville Lady Yellowjackets played softball like the team coach Wendy Jolly thought she had on Tuesday night.
After losing a 19-7 decision to Louisville on Monday night, SHS bounced back one day later and recorded an impressive 12-2 victory over West Point in five innings at Lady Jacket Field.
Starkville jumped out to an 8-0 lead after two innings and coasted to the win.

Wolverines drop 10-5 decision to Green Wave

WEST POINT – East Webster baseball coach Wes Johnson doesn't make excuses when his team loses.
Instead he gives credit where credit is due and on Tuesday night, that was directed to the West Point Green Wave, who claimed a 10-5 victory.

MSU secures bid into WNIT

The 2013-14 season will continue for the Mississippi State women's basketball program.
With Monday night's bid to the Women's National Invitational Tournament, the Bulldogs returned to the postseason for the first time since 2009-10.
MSU will host Tulane on Thursday night at Humphrey Coliseum. The times of the first round games will be announced today.

Football officials, for the most part, don't receive positive attention from football fans.
They are usually singled out for controversy or controversial calls on the gridiron.
On Monday, that was not the case for Jack Vaughn.
"I'm not used to applause," Vaughn joked as he stepped to the podium to speak to the Starkville Rotary Club at the Starkville Country Club.

After battling for almost three hours Louisville left town with a 19-7 victory. 

Bulldogs start spring practice on Tuesday

One of the most anticipated spring football camps is nearly here for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
MSU opens 2014 spring practice Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Leo Seal Jr. Football Complex. It will be the first of 15 practices, 14 of those opened to the public, for the coach Dan Mullen-led Bulldog squad.
